For his character Mahavir Phogat in Dangal, Amior has gone vegetarian as his character is a vegetarian too. For Dangal. Amir says increasing his weight was fun as he ate and drank whatever he could. But he also said that it was uncomfortable because gaining weight affects breathing and slows down your movement.
Director Nitesh Tewari also gave Aamir the option of wearing a bodysuit which he declined. He chose to increase his weight by 28 kg and then lose it again. He went from fat to fit where Amir Khan’s transformation in such a short time was indeed a remarkable feat for the actor considering he is now fifty. Amir’s diet was supervised by Doctor Vinod Dhurander who ensured Aamir consumed a diet of 1800 to 2500 calories. Aamir added, “Diet is number 1 in changing your body. It doesn’t matter how much you exercise – if your diet isn’t right, the results won’t show”.
