4 Types of drinking personalities named; which one are you?
Mostly for all, there are two types of people based on alcohol consumption – drinkers and non-drinkers. But a recent US study conducted by the University of Columbia-Missouri has named the categories that classify the drinkers.
Each of the four categories has its own specific behavioural traits, which helped the researchers identify and differentiate the alcohol drinkers. The researchers asked a group of 364 males and females to fill in a personality questionnaire two times. The first set of questionnaire was to be filled in thinking that they are sober, while the other set, thinking that they are drunk.
The test named the four categories as Ernest Hemingway, Mr. Hyde, Mary Poppins, and The Nutty Professor. Researchers evaluated the sample size for personality traits which include factors such as extroversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness, intellect, and emotional stability while drinking.
Let’s take a look at the categories individually.
1 Ernest Hemingway
This category was named after the famous American author, Ernest Hemingway, who was known for his ability to drink large quantities of alcohol. He was once famously quoted, “I can drink hells any amount of whiskey without getting drunk.”
Most of the sample size fell under the Hemingway category. These people were still able to process complex ideas and were considered reliable. They showed very little decrease in conscientiousness or intellect, meaning that they could hold their own even after consuming considerable amount of alcohol.
